Buffet for the Equines

80 people attended the Brownbread Horse Rescue fund-raising buffet at the Mermaid restaurant in Bexhill on Friday evening. Organised by Sandra Melvin of Apex Office Services the evening featured the singer, Katie Lloyd, who has also been invited to submit for the Eurovision Song Contest. Katie’s range extends from the 60’s to present day and had many of the guests dancing throughout the evening.

Several guests brought raffle prizes and the raffle raised £88. Rita Hawkins also brought along the tombola and raised £78. Chairman of Trustees, Tony Smith, spoke of the massive rescue operation that had been going on for 14 months and also the pony, “Toffee”, that had given sterling service to disabled riders for over 20 years was now in the horse hospital at Arlington. Unfortunately Toffees struggle for life came to an end the following Saturday morning. Tony also read out two of his poems, which brought a few of the guests to tears. In all the evening raised £344 for the Charity.
